For those of us who are suffering with anxiety attacks, we all know what it feels like. We get butterflies in our stomach. We have hot and cold sweats. We worry and fret over every little thing and anything. Our heart pounds. Our throats go dry plus we have trouble swallowing, just to name one or two.
We may have many symptoms in common, we also may have symptoms that vary significantly. This is why it is valuable to focus on us rather than some definition.
This is the reason anxiety attack is so difficult to spot. It's not like having a cold or some other illness, where the indications are standard and simple to make out and identify.
Anxiety attacks could happen out of the blue. I have spoken with many folks who have said 'my life is great; I don't know the reason why I am suddenly suffering with anxiety attacks';. This is the character of amxiety. There isn't a specific format for anxiety attacks. They can transpire to folks whose lifestyles are going very well, as well, as those whose lives are not going so well.
With my private experience of living with anxiety attacks, I am aware of the fact that the more you think about the anxiety the deeper ingrained the symptoms become. It is not till you really become aware of the fact that your thoughts have created your anxiety, so it stands to reason that in case you have created the anxiety attack then of course you could UN-create the anxiety attacks. This part is really tough for people to understand. And I know specifically how they think! After I was told this, I rejected it. Why would I want to do this to myself? It did not make sense.
But at the end of the day regardless of how much I tried to pay no attention to that fact, it was right, my thoughts were the basis of my anxiety. I experimented with it. The more I targeted my energy on the anxiety the stronger my anxiety attack became. So with the assistance of a counselor, I was able to work on my thoughts and get over my anxiety.
I am not anxiety free, however I could prevent my anxiety before it becomes a full blown anxiety attack.
One more thing to bear in mind, is that anxiety could be unpleasant, but it isn't always an unpleasant thing. Actually, anxiety can help us stay alert and focused, spur us to action, and provoke us to solve problems. However when anxiety is continuous or overpowering, when it interferes with our relationships and activities-that is when you've crossed the line from regular anxiety into the territory of anxiety disorders.
